While in town, which isn't often, I try to check my local CoinStar machines for rejected coins. I found a whopping $1.87, consisting of three quarter (all normal and circulated), a Roosevelt dime, and two Lincoln pennies. Wait you say, "That's only 87¢." Well, that's because the other coin was a 2007 $1 (peso) coin. LOL Post your finds from CoinStar or vending machines and let's see what weird and different coins and other things we find.
After hearing about these machines on CT I finally paid attention to find out what they were..... This reminds me of checking the coin returns on pay phones when I was a kid on the street.
Not something I normally do, but today I was in Walmart and saw I would pass by a Coinstar machine. Took the time to walk a few steps out of my way and put my grubby little hand into the reject area. There were about 6 coins, most lmc's. But two were silver dimes... a 1962 only good for junk silver and a 1941 Mercury that I have not graded but possibly could be worth a little more than melt numismatically. Nice to find these.
