    V. Kurt Bellman Yes, I'm blunt! Get over your "feeeeelings".

This sounds rough, but it's true. 1982 cents are divided into two groups - those nobody cares about, and the one nobody has. The one nobody has is the 1982-D small date struck on a brass 3.1g planchet. Everything else is common as dirt.

Never heard of it, never cared.

On edit: I looked it up. It shows no Fivaz Stanton number. Now I REALLY don't care.

Yes, but they're both Large Date, which makes them (wait for it) "common as dirt". Because I am where I am (100 miles from the Philly mint) I don't worry about them. I can go a whole year without seeing a 1982-D cent of ANY kind.

I have plenty of all 82's. All except the the (1982-D small date which weight is. 3.11grams appox.) Only 1 Known. All other small date 1982-d weigh 2.50grams (zinc mostly) Big difference in weight.

Yes. But first recognize. Find the small date d's first. Got to learn the difference between both. Then weigh them. If the coins weight is 3.11. They study it again. Cuz you'll stare a few more times. If it's a 1982-D. Small Date. Copper. 3.11grams. You can call everyone. Cuz after all. Someone found one. @Shrews1994 look at the 2 and 8 at POST 4. Small Date. @bryanstrong
