Thanks all. I’ll relax and let it play out. I got a message from Ian today saying they were having trouble verifying my account - I’m not really sure what that means, but I sent him the information he requested (usually account verification happens before you are allowed to bid, and they already have the money for this auction). Either it will work out or not, I’m not going to worry about it any longer.

I agree with your policy, Ian. Overseas with CC/PayPal is about as risky as it gets. Too many ways for a deal like this to go bad.
It takes time to build trust in this hobby.

I deal with a dozen or so European auction
houses. Like GC they have their own style in
handling winning bidders. Since my auction
invoices are less than 10,000 Euros I am usually
waiting 6-9 days just to be billed. Then I pay
immediately with PayPal. After that another
3-4 weeks for delivery and no tracking # from
them. In my opinion you are getting the ROYAL
treatment. Most of these European auction houses are
    2nd and 3rd generation companies. It's just a
style of business over in Europe. While GC is a
relatively young company they do provide TOP
rate service for both buyers and sellers. I highly
    recommend them without hesitation!!

I've been a buyer and seller with GC and have never had a bad experience. I'll do business with them again.

Totally legit... and usually great customer service.

That's much more the European practice. I've had a couple bids ignored because they didn't verify me.

In the US, first you bid, THEN we figure out if you are a deadbeat scum...

Great Collections is a completely legitimate company. I'm sure your problem will be resolved soon by them.

Correct. Usually here your account info is processed after you bid.

I’ve never sold with Great Collections, but I’ve bought four coins from them (including my two most expensive coins so far). I’ve had good experiences and would certainly buy from them again.

I just bought a coin from GC tonight. They had the invoice to me in about 3 hours. Good folks!

I have made several purchases from Great Collections. It does take several days for your funds to clear. No different than when I purchase bullion from Provident or APMEX. These companies have to be very careful as there are many scammers out there. Ian has proven be a honest business man in my dealings with him. Be patient.

Sometimes the verification problems come from PAYPAL. If your ship to address does not match the address on file for any reason PAYPAL will refuse to release your funds. If you've had PAYPAL for a long time and maybe moved you will need to verify your account from scratch. ditto if you have changed your bank account or credit card number or if your credit card has expired and been renewed since you started. None of that is the fault of the seller.

I think the speed improves as you gain a track record with them. My Sunday evening purchase was put into the mail today. Mind you, it wasn’t a $4 Stella.
