I've been perusing around the internet and can't really find a website that would have pre1800 and Colonial specific coins. Does anyone know of any good, *trustworthy* websites out there that host auctions or just sell these old coins.? I'm not looking for EF/AU quality just something that you can see the objects on them - VG/F/VF quality. I know Apmex has some GreatCollections from time to time ... Thanks
Try CRO (Coin Rarities Online) http://www.coinraritiesonline.com/ Many coins may be better quality than you are looking for, but they are great sellers.
A good one in Ebay is Ebay seller Indeetlib. Very wide selection on old US coppers and colonial coins - all price ranges. Have never bought from him but have heard good things.
Eduard, our posts crossed in the ether. i was just going to say ... ebay seller indeetlib has a lot of early coppers. I haven't bought any, but the feedback rating is good and the coins look nice. https://www.ebay.com/sch/indeetlib/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from= Also, ebay seller friscomint1793 is a well known early American copper seller with tons of beautiful material. https://www.ebay.com/usr/friscomint1793?_trksid=p2047675.l2559
Thanks. I've perused that site before and they do have a few lower cost coins from time to time. But it's certainly nice looking at all the pretty high quality coins/tokens there.
Thanks. A plethora from those two. It will take me a while to go through all of their listings. With all the fraud and fakes nowadays I just didn't want to go on eBay and buy stuff because it looked "right". Studying these specific era coins would take a lot of time, and then researching if their are fakes out there even more time, and then what specific identifiers for the fakes. Once I got to early 1800s I realized you just can't buy coins as much as I did before. For nice type examples the prices can skyrocket. So my collection additions has gone to a crawl now.
