Thanks Chief. The Winged Liberty was a bear to photograph. The high relief would cast shadows no matter how I placed the lights. I'm going to try again with more diffused lighting.
Oh no....did the earth's axis just spin out of control? CBD...I see you're flipping Daniel Carr 1815 O/S Large Cents and Half Cents. What made you change your mind about fantasy date O/S pieces? Inquiring minds want to know.
I decided I'd like to get rich off you guys instead. I'M ON THE GRAVY TRAIN! Don't worry, I'll scratch COPY or CARR into the rim before I ship em off. Thanks for the mention, chief!
Shadows from lighting, I guess. They're bright in hand. You like that ghosting on the half cent token? Reverse was either rotated on the host coin or he didn't align it with the dies before striking. Also, the large cent token has machine doubling on some of the stars, the ear, the dentils, and a few other devices on the obverse.
Got my ANACS order in today and took some shots of one of my favorite Daniel Carr pieces. I wish I had ordered the gold....
I LOVE DC's stuff, but the strike on the back of the 1934 gold piece is a turn off for me - very distracting. The one I saw in person didn't have that issue.
I have the new copper pieces coming that were picked up at the Colorado Springs show. I will have to let them come to a nice Red color, since the raw copper looks wrong on something that has the design of 200 years ago. Just leave them out on a shelf for a week on each side.
I can see how it would be a turn off to some. To some, his errors are even more valuable though. I've already had a decent offer for it.
I bought some 34mm for the St Gaudens. They look and work great and best of all they're shipped from the States and delivered in 3 days.
