My son had a great day today at the coin show. It's his second time going now. The last time he was sick and not feeling well so didn't really enjoy it. This time he was feeling great and had a blast. We stopped at the Kids Korner first and he got to dig through the treasure chest before working on filling a Lincoln Memorial album. Unfortunately most of the cents they had were wheaties so he only managed a few holes filled. Then we bounced around from seller to seller to look at all their stuff. I managed to find the French Angel I was looking for and when I bought it, the man gave my son an 1868 2 Cent piece out of the blue. Needless to say it is his new favorite coin. Another man gave him a fossil tiger shark tooth. Needless to say it is his new favorite fossil shark tooth haha. He wanted to share his pictures of his new favorite stuff with you guys. A big thanks to the two guys who made my 7 year old's day!
That's cool. I don't have anything like that on the back of my Angel that I bought from them. Probably since it is more of a bullion piece. Shame that they are all the way down in Alabama. I'd love to have a nice LCS around me.
From what I remember at the front there are bins of various types of American coins ($20 per coin sort of thing). There is a nice 1853 seated liberty quarter in one bin I’ll probably buy when I go back.
Looks like the flip might be a pvc flip. Do you keep the coins in the flip that were bought? Is the flip really flexible? If so I would take the coin out immediately and find another holder for them. The pvc in the flip can be harmful for the coin if the coin is in the flip for longer than six months.
Come to think of it, those ones were always oddly more flexible than any other ones I have. However, I have had them for over a year at this point, and nothing has happened to them. The 1/4 Florin came like that.
Not yet.Sometimes it will take years to have an effect on the coin depending on where you live. I have some examples of what happens in that type of flip if you would like to see it.
I have a PVC affected coin, and I agree that it is not pretty. Either way, at present I do not have anything else to store them in.
