no cause 1 my collectoin is never out of my house 2 there are no coins over 50 bucks in my collection
Nope and hope it never does. Although not a gun person I do have a shotgun handy if someone got too close to the safe. If it wasn't breaking and entering I'd have to shoot the wife. Would be an "inside job" you know.
not mine either. The safe i got was UL tool tested to take an expert 90 minutes to break into it. I am not a 'gun person either' but i am a hunter if my 22 pistol, 10, 12 or 22 guage shotguns, or the 30-30 rifle doesnt stop the intruder, the 30-06 certaily should. And with myself, my wife (who also hunts) and soon my daughter who will learn to shoot next year possibly all shooting at any possibly intruders (or 2, or 3...) well, we will cwertainly have to remodle the kitchen ... again! One thing about intruders - and the sign states this - i dont aim to stop, i aim to kill! its like the rat traps, they come in, but they dont get out
about fifteen years ago my brother took my mint cond 63 franklin and some other coins and bought candy with them. does that count
Nope, and I hope it never will. The big thing I hope is if it does ever get robbed, I hope it is no one I know. Phoenix
our house hasn't even been robbed since 1989, so thats good. i don't think a normal robber could find and carry my safes out even if they wanted to.
Stick with the 12 guage for home defence load one slug and the rest buck shot. (close only counts in hourseshoes and buckshot!) save the slug for last to finish him off.
Never had my coins stollen. But, if anyone can manage to break in and then remove a one ton safe that doesn't even fit through the existing door and then get down the street with it, they've earned them. Guy~
Clembo's comment is killing me. I save pennies, nickels and dimes. Of course, I look through them and try to figure out what to keep. And then I send them back to the bank and that is my "coin collecting money". Anyways, my wife picked up on this and started doing the same. I just let all my loose change and older coins on the kitchen table - since I was the only one doing it. Long story short, she had "somehow" got about 20 of my Merc's in her latest bank pile,. LUCKILY, I saw a Merc on the top of the pile and asked her about it. Of course, she denied everything - I think it's called the 24th Amendment or something that I couldn't argue with. Anyways, had to spend about 20 minutes going though her coins before I "released" her - on her own recognizance You never know from what direction the knife is coming .... (Totally joking - but totally true stoy!)
I have never had any of my collection stolen and I hope it never does. Unlike many in this thread...I am a gun person (yes, I admit it)...but I hope I never have to use them in that way.
Nothing wrong with being a gun person Richie. I'm not but I STILL own one. Kinda makes a statement there now doesn't it?
Probably should have added more things to vote on. Such as anyone you know ever had coins robbed? Any family members had coins robbed? Any coins of yours takem by accident and spent? Did you ever steal a coin?
I've never been robbed either... And I am a gun person too... That's why they know better than to hit a house with a gun collection, a coin collection and cartridge collection... To carry away the safe they would have to carry away the house...
You truely underestamate criminals. One neighbor of mine had his house robbed while on vacation. A moving van pulled up and emptied the place, including a large safe. A few nosey neighbors asked the movers what was going on and they said we don't know, we are just movers. When the family came home from the vacation, not even a bed to lay down on. A police station was robbed of thier safe some years back. The criminals came in with clothing appearanced from a safe company. They instructed the police on duty the city was replacing all outdated safes with new ones and the new ones will be arriving later. Another neighbor had all his guns and coins robbed while out shopping. The guns did no good if no one is home. They have ways to watch a house for when people go out. Ever notice how many people have a habit of shopping on Saturdays? And the same time every Saturday. Nice time to borrow stuff.
