Got myself a birthday present

    I splurged a little and got myself this coin for my birthday!
    Date: 140-110 B.C.
    Denomination: AR Tetradrachm.
    Diameter: 31 mm.
    Weight: 14.61 grams.
    Obverse: Wreathed head of young Dionysos right.
    Reverse: ΣΩΤΗΡΟΣ ΗΡΑΚΛΕΟΥΣ θΑΣΙΩΝ; Herakles standing facing, holding club, lion's skin draped over arm.
    Reference: SNG Copenhagen 1040.

    Beautiful coin, @Charles1997 ! Happy Blessed birthday to you! I really like the heart shapes (Valentine hearts) on Dionysus' head band. It would be interesting to trace the origin of the Valentine heart symbol and it's earliest uses.

    One never knows. I bought one at a local coin shop last year for $100, about the same quality, but they only get ancients once a decade or so!
