I recently discovered two Buffalo nickels that exhibit clear date and other obverse doubling. Neither coin is mentioned in any reference works that I have found. I am considering submitting both for slabbing but learned that NGC only validates and grades those from their list of acknowledged errors and variants. It was unclear of the source(s) of this list and wonder who is the final arbiter when it comes to validating "outliers." Am I mistaken about NGC limitations? If not, can someone please point me to the final authority for newly discovered mint errors and variants? My thanks in advance!
Are you sure that they are truly doubled dies and not some other form of worthless doubling? http://doubleddie.com/144801.html
Why don't you post one of your coins front and back and let us take a look at it for you and if you have a true doubled die then we can steer you in the right direction.JMO Dave
have you ever submitted to anacs? i would give them a try i just submitted a 2018 d pictured rocks quarter that may have multiple lamination peels or possibly struck thru grease . keep on hunting it never gets boring .....
But why submit a coin for grading if it's only worth face value if it doesn't have any errors then it would be a waste of money.JMO Dave
As said above, please post some photos before you do anything else. But a cheaper way than any TPG would be submitting to Brian Ribar who specializes in Nickels. Much like John Wexler does with other coins. John does not do Nickels though. Try www.briansvarietycoins.com and see what he charges first. If you do not have a variety after he looks at them then you are not out a whole lot of money. Do be aware, he is not a TPG that does slabs.
I have sent in coins that were not errors but weak die strikes some of these weak strikes pose as errors so i to was out of money i am in this for my personal gratitude,,, not to just see how much i can get for something if i knew how to send a decent picture on this tablet then i would. I will try to send the graded 2018 pictured rocks quarter to ya guys keep on looking its a lotta fun on your day off
