There was talk, somewhere, about Spain in 1492, and Christopher Columbus discovering the USA and Donald Trump in that year. Seriously, although CC is known for that deed, it is arguable, in fact, quite likely that previous explorers arrived before him. There must be quite a lot of coins, of various countries, celebrating CC, with portraits, pictures of the ships, etc. If some of you, out there have relevant coins, any chance of sharing them with us ? Please ??

I've got this ancient lamp, as well as a sculpted stone which has the shape of an animal (like a small squirrel without a tail). I'd love just to show them on this site. Lp O.JPG Lpan R.JPG animSto.JPG animalStn.JPG

These are kinda cool and may be my oldest. 4.5 Billion Years old for the Moon Rock

and Mars is perhaps 4.6 Billion. However, with the volcanic activity, this piece may be between 3.5 - 4.6 Billion...

These were the guys that Rameses II fought at the Battle of Kadesh... Rameses told everyone HE won, as the Hittites stated THEY won. Lotta dumb mistakes from Rameses II side, but I understand it was really a draw.

@Alegandron, that Hittite amulet is so cool!! You own an artifact from an important ancient civilization — the Hittites controlled most of Anatolia and Upper Mesopotamia from 1600-end of the Bronze Age. Something to add to my wish list!

I just scanned the reverse of this original cross which dates back to several centuries, I believe. The legend is clearly German, a language that I can easily read and understand. I could detect the Father (Vater) for instance, as well as the Holly Spirit, the soul (Geistes), AMEN, IHM, IHN , Einheit (Unity) etc... Regardless of what century in the past that bronze cross was crafted, can you guess the name of the related German State? By that time Germany was very far from being united as one country. I shall shoot the superb obverse of the crucified Lord tomorrow after recharging the battery at day light. I will also post a new attractive jug. Thanks.. GerCross 001.jpg

Here is one of my favorites despite its humble appearance. Its a large shallow dish from Cyprus, of the Cypro-Geometic, 1,050 - 750 BC. It was part of the Desmond Morris collection (fabled historian, sociologist, and others), sold at Christie's in 2003.
