Are all the Sacagawea dollars clad type coins? I saw where there is a clad error.
I have 2 Gold Sacagawea Dollars that don't look very Gold and they definitely have a clad composition. There are 2 distinctive layers when you look at the side of the coin. A copper half and a silver/gold half.... is that normal?
How would you determine the clad error?

I wasnt asking if they were gold. I was just wondering how you determine the clad error. 2000 sacagawea on clad coin, if they are already clad?

there is no clad error, the error was that it was struck on a 1999 Susan B Anthony planchet www.coinworld.com/news/us-coins/2016/09/anothony-dollar-planchet-meet-sacagawea-dollar-on-this-error-coin.all.html

There were 39 gold proof Sacagawea Dollars minted at the West Point Mint, all but 12 were melted down. These 12 coins are all accounted for and are stored at Fort Knox. These same 12 coins also flew in space on the Space Shuttle.

Well............ there WERE gold ones created, illegally, and IIRC they were flown into space, at least some of them. I don't know what their legal status, or their present 10-20 is.

Ooops, shoulda read to the bottom of the thread first.

All 2000 Sac dollars are clad coins. They are 2 Manganese Brass layers clad onto a pure copper core. Sometimes after some circulation the manganese brass layers can take on a silverish color.
