Believe I have a 06 DDO cent

Hehe yeah, I'm sure there are...I just took out my 2000s box and will check it again. I haven't really looked for DDOs/DDRs on these, just a glance through for something very obvious but I guess I'll do a more close up inspection. It might be worth it.

Yea I had the coin for a decent amount of time I got it in change from the gas station and was bored last night and I had a note book that I write key dates for coins in and remembers 06 D was one of them and looked at it and looked at it and looked at it. I kept saying to myself “no, no way lol

Did you happen to have a grade in mind?

 

Is the reverse Doubled?

 

And this is just a guess I have never tried to grade before but I think it could be AU-50 or AU-55

 

These 06' cents were often seen with a weak strike on the obverse. The high points look a lot like what you have. If it was an MS coin, linear planchet lines would be visible on the hazy looking high points. I think that this one because of the contact marks would fit into AU55, Nice coin!

It is much less publisised than the most recent DDO's that I have seen. I don't have any figures on this coin, Maybe @Rick Stachowski could help you out?

It doesn't seem like it is rare to find a single squeeze die disturbance, as they are not hubbed "doublie die "., just vibrate during the strike.

Please understand , I am following the forum's guide that a member can diss a coin, but not members, so understand I am talking about the coin itself and not you. I am happy that you find satisfaction in the find and that it is exciting, and I was answering your question

And I was answering that the single squeeze method could not produce a doubled die coin as it didn't have the same steps in die preparation, so the modern version are much more numerous and available. The only problem I have is that people who should know there is a difference write books and youtubes, comparing the rarity and pricing of true doubled dies, like the 1955/55 LWC with the implication that if one finds a current coin that people call DD , they expect reat value for it. If you have a better outlook, good for you, as many do not. There was no personal point intended.

You'v said that before Jim and that's just not true. Doubling on the strike is md. Everyone knows that. The mint said it wasn't possible, but it is, because the dies are doubled. The mint, as we all know, can be wrong quite often. The truth is that yes there shouldn't be any doubling, but they leave out the human factor. The original type of doubling shouldn't have any doubling either if you took away the human element.

 

I think that what is being said is that the image you see, was not created by the master die. It was created by the single squeeze method. Any error or variety you see was created by the machine that produced it.
