This arrived today. I think it is going to be hard top sheet metal from which 1943 steel cent planchets were punched.

You think? Where did you buy it and what did you buy it as?

Would this not fall into the same category as the scrap pieces I purchased and posted about that were supposed to be destroyed by a sub contractor to the U.S. Mint?

Can you take a picture with a small cent in one of the holes? I want to see the difference in size. Cool piece.

“I think” it will be hard to top. I bought it as 1943 cent webbing. It is provenanced to John Devine

Here is an 8-foot section that was authenticated by Fred Weinberg. It has the exact same style.

The holes are very slightly smaller than struck steel cents, as to be expected.

These were illegally stolen by a mint worker and sold as collectors items. Very nice.

They were legally sold to a contractor for use in home construction. When the home was torn down, these came up for sale.

May have been picked out of the trash. Which was not legal since it is mint refuse.
I like the part about 2 big pieces being inside the walls of a Denver home, and driving the Denver Mint Police over there.
I didn't read anything in the story about the house being torn down.
