How many more years will we have of the silver eagle until it gets replaced?

I bought mine from Litteton Coin Company around December 1999.

Who knows, maybe I packed and/or mailed it. I worked in order filling and the mail room for about a year. My grandmother who is 83 has worked there over 50 years

Look at the South African Kruggerrand. It's been around since the late 60's with the same design. Frankly, I'd be delighted if they'd redesign it -- that beard kinda creeps me out

A popular thing is to cast your own bars using melted scrap silver or gold or ASEs. You can buy hard carbon molds on ebay ( search silver molds) and if you want lettering, use a small bit moto tool to grind the reverse lettering in the mold and then pour . Different companies offer custom molds you can make look like those from many years ago. Wonder how many hand poured bars are labeled by older appearing logos and sold at a premium.

Since the ASE has the front of the Walking Liberty half, it would be interesting to see Busties or Seated Liberties or some of the early coin designs.

I think the mint should transition to this design:

The mint should let liberty do the 50 state flag tour. She gets to wear a flag from each of the 50 states over a 10 year period.

    That’s a pretty cool idea.

I still don't get why the silver eagle is just a Walker half obverse. But if they want to borrow a previous design they could keep the silver eagle name and use the bald eagle commemorative dollar design. That is a gorgeous coin in it's own right and truly symbolizes America.

I would like to see it make 50 years. If they ever change the design, I'd love to see a silver dollar sized coin (.999 fine) with a slightly modified type coin design, like the early bust coins of the early 19th century.
Look how well the American Buffalo 2001 Commemorative coin did.
