Extremely nice, doesn't hurt that it's a AU Charlotte mint coin either. What I wonder though is seeing as the premium on these is pretty stiff to begin with does the color add that much premium on it's own or not?

In my opinion, the toning is unattractive (judging from the pictures only, might look different in hand).
Looks like toning that belongs on a wheat cent, not a gold coin. Just my opinion though, might look better in hand again.

Appears to have the "crusty" toning that old-gold aficionados love. See Doug Winter's website: raregoldcoins.com . It's just a matter of personal preference though. Cal

Very well may make it more rare for all I know but the only thing I don't love about it is the weak C. I want that C to slap me in the face personally!

    Awesome coin

No? Okay... a fine coin there, always like the gold with purple tones!

Colors here are accurate. Fortunately for me and unfortunately for you! :) Appreciate the feedback.

I love the colors. I wish the mintmark was stronger, but it is what it is. I would have bought it had I the money.

I haven't picked up as many coins lately as I would like. I saw this one too and delayed just long enough to miss it! You know I love it, and call dibs if it ever sells!!

I love gold no matter what. If it's toned, it's just more "cool" to look and stare at.
    Congrats.

FYI, I don't like toned Silver or Copper much, but I do like toned Gold for some odd reason.

Gold is always good. That piece gets a double good.

While I like the toning, I've never been a fan of the weak mint marked coins from Charlotte (or Dahlonega for that matter). For me, it doesn't help that you need a glass to see something that should be easily discernible to the naked eye. Here's my 1850-C HE w/a sharply impressed mintmark for reference.

Very nice coin Charlottedude! I do wish mine had a stronger C. But cant win em all. To be honest I don't know this series well. More of a $2.5 Indian guy but this coin caught my eye and since i collect gold toners it was a no brainer... well after I figured out what to sell to come up with money for it! I think I will look at alot more Charlotte gold going forward.
