I just like this one. Its a really shiny one for just picking up in change. I noticed a bunch of little errors. The one that really sticks out and you can see clearly with the naked eye is the extra metal between the "H and M" it looks like a lightning bolt without magnification. It must have been Friday for the die operator because this quarter has all kinds of mess ups. I did research and none of it fits any valued varieties but it sure is a mess for being as shiny as it is!

Hard to tell but it looks like a lot of plating blisters on it.

A quarter die machine produces 750 quarters a minute. The blanks are punched from a large roll made of nickel plated copper. I only said the OP's quarter "looks like a lot of plating blisters". Not sure if that's it or otherwise.

I tried to get a photo from the side but its almost impossible. It be cool if someone else found a quarter with the same die scrapes if thats what it is. IMG_3181.jpg

if it were a defect in the planchet, the die would have "pressed" it down right? It has to be something wrong with the die? Trying to learn.

I guess in a way clad coins are plated but when I read plating blisters it just made me think of those nasty zincolns with the bubbles all over the coin. Sorry if I sounded like I was calling you out on your knowledge..you by far know much more than I do :D
