I'm worried about getting stuck with 18Ps. I did nickels from July-November last year when I got back. I think I found maybe 5 buffs and 10 wars and the rest was garbage. Lots of solid date 17Ps. I would love to be able to fill the 2 missing holes in my folders (39D and 50D) but after almost $50k searched I dont know if that will ever happen.

I know there is little chance of silver in quarters but I have so much fun looking for errors in the '99- current quarters that the silver doesn't matter. Nickels are also a fun break to find buffalo and war nickels. Pennies have gotten so far away from me it is scary. My Son has a 5 gal bucket that is 2/3 full.

Pulled a fair amount of copper from ten rolls yesterday.
A couple of wheats as well. Wish I could play around with halves but not in our little town or on my level of pay.
I hold no belief that I could find any silver in nickels, dimes or quarters. Aside from 18d and p I have a pretty fair condition 17 back to 65 in all those denominations.

Picked up $100 quarters, $100 dimes, $10 nickels, and $10 cents today.
My son searched everything but the dimes. Those were for me.

He found a few quarters for his books, and 6 wheats.
The first roll of dimes had a 40P Merc, and a 46P Roosie. There was a 2016 Canadian 10c in another roll but that was all there was. Still fun to search.

I find that as far as boxes go dimes produce the most silver. I’ve found about 100, give or take, this year. As far as customer wrapped stuff of course halves by far produce the most. But boxes of halves, at least around here are terrible.

I have the opportunity to get 6 rolls of dimes.
But I spend a fair amount of time on the pennies.
We'll see how it all shakes out.

I do want to try dimes again, when i was searching them, i found a bunch of silvers, including mercs. They're so small though it annoys me.

Even though I've never found a silver nickel (in rolls), I still love to search them (i keep all the pre-59 nickels because why not).

Cents are also cool because you're bound to find 10+ wheaties.

Quarters. Well, i have a hard time justifying quarters because silver is so scarce there, but if you're working on your SQ or SPQ then it's good.

They are small, but they are 90% silver. I do a box a day at least. Over the long term you can expect to average about 1.2 per box. I’ve had many zero boxes. The hightest I had was 7 in one box and also a couple 6s and a few fives. If you stick with it you will find silver. And even with the rediculously low silver prices we have right now, each find is $1.20 and it only costs you 10 cents. I don’t know about other places but her in north MS dime boxes and CUSTOMER rolls of halves are the best bet by far for Ag. Best of luck. And HH

Oh no definitely! I love the sound of silver dimes. I am not only a silver searcher however, so i look at every coin. This becomes annoying because they are small and i am often dropping them, or need magnification to see. Plus, on the other hand i think people are more likely to get rid of rare/silver dimes because they are so small and not as noticeable. For example, what are you more likely to notice a Merc in your change or a SLQ?

I always found it interesting that Canada lagged behind the US in moving away from silver since they didn't make the transition until '68. And instead of clad, they went with nickel for their dimes and quarters (and presumably halves). So they literally have "nickel dimes" and "nickel quarters".

As I understand it the 68 Canadian dimes are partly silver and partly not (some are some aren’t). If this is the case is there an easy way to distinguish?

I have heard that you can use a magnet to distinguish between the nickel made coins and the silver Canadian coins from 1968.

I see your point but what you should really be asking yourself is what are you more likely to find. A silver dime or a silver quarter. I personally have searched thousands of dollars of each denomination and have pulled only three silver quarters. I have found well over a hundred silver dimes and a handful were mercs.
