Typo ? Louis XVII ? The son of the ill-fated Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, he died in prison at the age of 10 and never ruled. 1632 is Louis XIII.

    1627 Germany SOLMS-HOHENSOLMS Philipp Reinhard Taler 1627

This is a so-called Hahnreitaler (or cuckold taler). At one point during the Thirty Years' War one of the Protestant leaders, Christian IV of Denmark, got control of the city of Wolfenbüttel and appointed Count Philipp Reinhard of Solms-Hohensolms as governor. The count stole the gold and silver in the castle to mint coins with Christian IV's monogram to pay the troops. There was a story that he also took Christian's wife - hence the Taler's nickname. This story is only half-true. Christian was cuckolded but by Count Otto Ludwig of Salm-Kirburg, not by Philipp Reinhard.

Sorry. I have this problem with rules. Really. It's like an un-diagnosed OCD, or something such as Sheldon from Big Bang Theory has. In any case, I'm fairly confident that I read in the original post this will end without a new response in 24-hours. On the other hand, it's my issue and I'm sorry if I'm rushing anyone.

That's what I thought, Jimski! We had YoloBagels, Saturday at 1:14 PM and my "urgent plea" on Sunday at 1:03 PM. That's pretty darn near twenty-four hours in my world, which is why I posted.

    Great Solm-Hohensolms, by the way!

    Best regards to all!

A decent 1624 Würzburg schilling (eight pfennig) while Philipp Adolph von Ehrenberg was running the show as the bishop. The reverse has the full length figure of St. Kilian with a sword and crozier; St. Kilian came all the way from Ireland to preach to the Germanic tribes in Würzburg in the seventh century, where he died in 689.

And a Louis XIII double tournois for comparison (but there are many differences, based on the different mints)
