Not to be a naysayer but on mine it comes down from the beaks tip. Maybe compare it to some online photos if it matters to you.
I've got 4 spitting horses and one of them came in a do-it-yourself set case lol! Took me a yr and a half of looking to get my 1st. It's a fun one to hunt.

Screenshot_2018-06-02-00-25-23.png This is what I used to compare, the throat line runs right up to the p in pluribus.

Oh. A die clash! I Thought The Spitting Eagle Was From A Die crack. Yours is definitely clashed as I can see evidence near the arrow tips. Cool. None of the clashes I have found have the line near the beak.

See at the back of his head at 4 o'clock? That's what I saw right off,the leaf dip.

Yup. On most of mine the bridge of the nose makes it look like there is an Xtra leaf or a small diamond sitting on the arrow tips from the eye area. Find this on a variety of years too.

When I read up on these a while back it does say that the clash can be identified by a die crack coming from the beak. But I was told here that the line is caused by a clash.NGC wrote it was a die crack. But this coin matches up with everything on the pictures I've seen.

That's one of the things I used,I looked at this thing for 45 min, then posted it because I didn't want to post another dud lol. This is the 2nd one I've posted. Pretty cool coin, and my first die clash.

I gave away a few spitting horses. Have yet to find the eagle. Is it only on the 1983 year. Yours looks like the pictures i believe I've seen.
