Whether intentionally done or not, the lighting and imaging make it difficult to get a good look at the coin. However, there is no way that it would grade that high at a respected grading company. It could easily grade at least a few points lower. You should treat that coin as if it is uncertified and completely ignore the listed grade.

I would offer no better than AU money for that coin, and even then I would likely not bid with pictures that small and deceptively taken.

This is a common as dirt coin and you can find a nicer example without having to "gamble" on iffy pictures and third tier grading companies. Patience is the key.

Mark's advice above is solid. In case you didn't know, he is a former grader for NGC, and a straight-shooter.

Thank You for being here Mark, your reputation precedes you.

Three points lower is still PCGS list $945.00 to anyone interested.

Thank you for the welcome. As others have said, the coin could be AU, as there is just no way to get a decent look at it from the images. When I said "it could easily grade at least a few points lower" I wasn't in any way implying that it couldn't grade MORE than a few points lower.

Also, based on their "website", I don't think that "GEC" is a genuine, independent grading company. I'm guessing it or he is a self-slabber who assigns ridiculously high grades to coins. Likely, many of them end up selling at what look like bargain prices, when in fact, they sell for more than they should, based on their true condition.

Edited to add: Leadfoot, the icon will have to wait for a while - I don't want to scare people away too quickly. : )

I don't know about the coin, one thing to consider is the seller's 100% feedback, along with the 7 day return, but I would still be leary. Arey ou considering it spock?

    Phoenix

Sadly, there are many such sellers with excellent feedback. Often, the main reason is that the people who buy their coins are extremely unknowledgeable and mistakenly think they are getting good or great deals, when in fact they are getting very bad ones.

And a heck of a lot of labor to get it nice and polished like that!

    So, AU-53 + Labor= MS-67.

It is all in the logic that you use.

I just noticed the company's name is GEC.
Any relation to the Geico geco (probably spelled wrong)?
