Hi. every now and then I see an error coin that I want to get. just bought this 1 off Ebay from Eygpt too. sellers pics...sorry they are not that great, but you get the idea of what it looks like. better picks when I receive it. I am hoping it is a real error coin. I am gonna have fun with this 1 and call it "King Tut's curse." lol
Not much into those kind of coins mainly because no knowledge it appears to be a nice coin though. Dave
The raised design of a cancellation die is readily seen on the reverse face. Many recent Egyptian errors show cancellation strikes.
@mikediamond explain. is it on my 2nd picture ? is it still worth money ? $35.00 and is it still an error coin ?
Yes, the cancellation strike is clearly seen on the second picture. Cancellation strikes ordinarily reduce a coin's value, so if this strike followed the second strike, the coin would worth considerably less than what you paid. However, if a cancellation die was paired with a normal die for the second, off-center strike, this would represent a very unusual type of intentional error and would be worth at least what you paid. Your photos are too small, and the resolution too poor, to tell if this was the case.
ok. thank you for that information. I agree the sellers pics are to small. I will take better pics of it when I get in the mail.
It was double-struck and then cancelled. As with many such cancellation strikes, the coin lay between a cancellation die and a second coin, which generated a light brockage on the obverse.
