You do know published studies are not infallible, right? Science is constantly disproving previously published studies all the time, and sometimes absolute junk gets published either by carelessness or accident. As far as I'm concerned, it they publish something that the general public can read and have access to, I as a general member of the public can comment on it and ask questions or express concerns about it. Or are you about to tell me we mere mortals are prohibited from doing so?

Well, I'm done with this thread. Time to make myself a Cuba Libre with Grey Goose and Cola and light me a Cuban cigar.

Any Trekkies here? The whole argument between @Severus Alexander and myself reminded me of a Star Trek Enterprise episode where a group of religious zealots take over the Enterprise in order to use the ship to wipe out a "heretic faction". Turns out that the two groups believe the exact same thing, but they disagree on a trivial matter... one group believes the Makers made de orbs in the Delphic Expanse in 9 days, the other group thinks it took 10 days. So they never make up, and in the end they destroy each other. Anyway, Captain Archer regains control of Enterprise and takes the leader of the zealot group and a few of his followers to the surface of their planet, where they get to witness the aftermath of the argument over this trivial matter, no major cities or settlements remain in the surface of the entire planet, and most life is extinct. The point is, I'm glad Severus Alexander and myself could agree to set aside our small differences and get along....before I decided to press the button.
Nice, I've always liked cats, but I suffer from cat allergies, which has kept me from owning one. So I own a dog instead. Here is my son with Chippy, our Shiba Inu dog.
Ehh, don't be hackin' up any furballs... I have had over 30 cats. Barn cats, mousers, and house-cats. Just not a cat lover. My wife even has a Maine-coon mix now. Best cat I have ever been around, but...it. .still. .is. .a. .cat. Even a trekkie cat, @TypeCoin971793! Any Star Wars cats? Sadly, the same is true for me. Instead we have these: (They would definitely not mix well with cats.)
In their opinion, not the cats', I imagine. Right there with you, allergies and all. And as a bonus, guinea pigs don't kill things cuter than they are! (If the rumors of things cuter than guinea pigs are true...)
Not a cat lover either, but that one makes me laugh everytime I watch it (and understand why I don't particularily like cats) "Dogs have a Master, cats have Staff !" Q
Last year the classicist Mary Beard was the target of internet trolls when she discussed Roman Britain's ethnic diversity. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news...-twitter-abuse-roman-britain-ethnic-diversity At least here on CT we are enlightened enough to only disagree about 'why' and not 'if' Roman Britain was multicultural. So, it could be worse. Hershey and Snickers did not raise an eyebrow over this thread.
