How many of you have found them in circulation or through a teller? I think they're pretty cool. In fact, I bought some North Africa notes on Ebay (from a member here, or, it was his business) The more and more I learn about notes the more I want them.. haha :eating:
The WWII Emergency currency is not real hard to get. And you can complete a type set easily. There isnt alot of notes to it. They are different than "regular" notes of the era and attractive. I have never found them in circulation. High Grade Hawaii $10's are getting tougher to find. Jeff
Thanks for the pictures. Ive seen them all, except that 20$ Hawaii, I didnt know they made them in 20s
There were $20 Hawaiis from the 1934 issue and the 1934A issue. And in both of those issues there were mules and non mules. One of the most rare small currency notes is the the North African 1934 issue. Those run about $30,000 in uncirculated. The only other small currency note that goes for such premiums is the 1933 $10 Silver certificate. Jeff
About 15 years ago I received a $1.00 NA and $1.00 Hawaii in change from a coin dealer at his shop. They were only in fine condition. I pointed them out to him at the time. He shrugged his shoulders and said that he needed to look more closely next time.
About 20 years ago I picked up a $5 FRBN in circulation. It was fairly dogged. In fact with the old $1.00 silver certificates I have that are not worth collecting, from time to time I use them as tips at restraunts. The waitress and bus-boys fuss over them. Jeff
i have never seen one in circulation!! the one $1 i do own, i paid quite a bit more then face!! i wouldnt want to leave 'that' as a tip
I guarantee if I found one of these in circulation, it would be a PERMANENT additition to my collection.
You forgot a few. The 1928E $1 Silver Certificate star note in CHCU listed at $50,000. 1928 $1 Red seal star notes are extremely valuable as well. One went for $35,000 in 2000 in CHCU. Sorry guys. Off topic but you know how it is.
by the way, I dont have a price guide, what are the prices for N. Africa notes/ In good, very good, and find condition? thanks
