They are my coins. Denar, imitation and imitation of the Taman peninsula. Portraits of Marcus Aurelius . Imitation of Ukraine has funny inscriptions.
Ah, @Valens, I see you have the same interest as I do! Here are a few of these imitative denarii that were found in the Kursk area and at the Lower Volga. The first one suggests Marcus Aurelius or Antoninus Pius, it's from the Kursk find, apparently. 18 mm, 2.80 gr. Cf. Sergeev 203. The second one was found at the Lower Volga, the text says 'MOD', so Commodus? 18 mm, 1.80 gr.
My imitation is number 958 https://studfiles.net/preview/5200705/page:19/ Cherkasy region. The center of Ukraine.
The most interesting imitation of the Goths. https://archeowiesci.pl/2016/01/28/zlota-moneta-z-runami-i-rzymskim-cesarzem/
Thanks very much for this link to the book of Anokhin about imitations of Roman denarii (2015), I didn't know it.
I'm glad I helped. A coin with runes from the link is probably related to Herul. More here https://www.academia.edu/16687554/E...collection_of_ancient_coins_in_the_Ossolineum
I suspect this imitation of Antoninus Pius comes from the same region, i.e. Ukraine/Moldova, though I haven't found a die link with a published coin. Given the time and location (these were produced at least until 300), is it a good bet to attribute them to the Sarmatians, in particular the confederation known as the Roxolani? The Anokhin book that @Valens linked above is great. Here are some of the imitations in it that caught my eye:
My new coin III / IV century Carus, Probus? Anochin 52,80,131 https://studfiles.net/preview/5200705/page:5/ Reverse: roman clibanarius?
I don't know how I missed this thread. The middle right coin is a normal Septimius Severus from the early Emesa period so often shown here by Martin. It does not belong here but sure would belong in in either Martin's or my collection! Over the last few years I have shown several unofficial Septimius Severus coins here but have no idea from where they came. A few were shown on my 1998 page: http://www.forumancientcoins.com/dougsmith/wild.html
Much has been written about it here https://community.vcoins.com/the-celator-vol-20-no-07/ http://www.sno.pro1.ru/lib/vdi/1961/vdi-1-1961.pdf
