Likely it was plated after it left the Mint. I'm not sure if there are any "Yellow Jackets" (Improper alloy) listed for this year and MM.

Yes the coin was plated by someone after it left the Mint. Worth face value.

I don't believe it. No dealer would be that stupid.

He said it was and I quote" it's a wrong planchet error penny". They can be worth anywhere from 500-5,000 depending on grade(mine was poor but still worth about 250.00 but he has to make a profit in order to buy and sell coins

And why didn't you mention this fact in your first post?.. Seems like you didn't know what you had at first. I find it hard to believe your story o_O

I was trying to get an idea of what it was before I took it in(I took it to the coin dealers after I posted).i posted on a few different places and everyone said it was plated. I know what plateing looks like.i won't be posting here again. I have no reason to lie to a bunch of people I don't know but thanks so much for all the rude comment's I promise not to make the same mistake again

Sounds like a boneheaded dealer, I would have told you to spend it.

(I'm) not saying you are lying Amanda but I do have a question that you might be able to answer. As you recall, when you made this transaction, and to the best of your knowledge, did this dealer do any kind of tests on this coin before he offered to buy it? Because, for the life of me, I cannot fathom what kind of wrong planchet he might have been eluding to? These coins have been plated as far back as the 1940's by Littleton Coin Co. Sometimes they were given as a bonus for making purchases but they also sold them. But they were strictly a novelty item worth no more than face value because they had been altered. This makes me very suspicious of this dealers credentials.
