Just shy of the $50 mark -- this sestertius of Antoninus Pius with a lovely patina:

*Sorry this is in the US Forum. I thought I was posting in "Coin Chat," which is of general interest.

Garlicus Debt is dumb, cash is king.

RLT&Co Dublin - while not a US coin, this Conder Token does flip heads to tails like a US coin, and may be on the same planchet as early US coins, as the Soho Mint, established by Matthew Boulton, did supply the US with over 20 million copper planchets during this time.

Typesetter's first day on the job? Too much Guinness? Lol.
Edge lettering looks to have a couple of typos, as well.

I have a token with some backward lettering as well. Paid $15 per token for a big lot, and this was the most valuable. Somewhere around $200 retail.

A couple more '38-D Buffalo Nickels to add to the herd. 2 are in holders I did not have yet.

This ANACS would be an absolute steal if had not had the gunk on the obverse and a bit on the reverse. The color is just mind blowing. But the price I paid was well worth it, especially since I don't have one in this generation ANACS yet.

I didn't have a PCGS Black Diamond holder yet.

And another MS-65 Rattler that I could not believe slipped at the price I snagged it at. It turned out to be a D/D WRPM-010, it's as dramatic as the RPM-002.

I guess you would call this a repunched date, but it looks like re-engraved would be a better term for it. $29

I think that coin was made later than the time when dates were hand-punched into the dies.

I usually don't buy slabs, but, at $3.65 I couldn't resist. It even has a perfect silver coin inside the slab. The cherry on top was the First Day Issue label.:cigar:

I don’t even like the design, I just bought it because of the great color and luster.

OK, so my last post (#2166) was, unknown to me, actually a rare 1929 Buffalo 5C DDO FS-101, of which PCGS has only graded 15 examples. And, it has a price guide value of $750 in MS62. Thanks, Paddy!

This is a bit more prosaic. I was the only bidder at $30 and I can't remember why I bid! :( My existing 1930-S is kind of dull and this is definitely better.

@Paddy54, you started a thread "1929 S Buffalo Nickel" just about 3 years ago. You discussed a 1929-S DDO that was not listed in the references.

I think I have a match (at $26.26 for this one).

Here are details of the long feather,

    and LIBERTY.

Did you get an attribution for this variety? I went to Variety Vista and I still do not see any listings for a 1929-S Buffalo DDO.

    Thanks,
    Ron

Dealing with family issues I don't have the time today to research this.....I don't recall the finial details from the original post.
However you must check all soures of reference when dealing with varities.
Theres several incorrect varieties listed in the CPG.
One in Particular is an 1829 half dime listed as an 1829 /3 .Not only did they list it but went on to say it was extremely "RARE" ! The next edition they refruted their findings that this very rare 9/3 really did not exist. And basically it was nothing more than a rpd and one that the next edition of the cpg is not going to list it at all!
You coin is an 1929 correct? I would follow the examples listed by Wiles and Wexler.
The 29 S was damaged when purchased it was returned to the dealer with a stern warning that his pratices of hiding flaws was either going to stop or I was going to make his practce known to the community at large!
He has been black listed by several dealers here, as word on the street has it he still sells damaged specimens without telling the buyer.
