Recently got it from ebay lol, does it look right to you guys ? It looks repatinated wit some sort of machine oil to cover up the job ?
looks authentic to me afa being a coin of that bunch of Gallic emperors i.e. Claudius Gothicus, etc...
Nigrinian was a baby. Claudius Gothikus was an old man whom minted many a coin. If you paid more than $5 I would recommend you send that back and demand a refund. Here is my Nigrinian (I am still battling BD on him): Nigrinian DIVO NIGRINIANO AE Antoninian CONSECRATIO Reverse: Eagle Very Rare
Yep, you can actually make out the DIVO CLAVDIO legend. Claudius II, not Nigrinian. But looks like an authentic coin.
Thanks my coining cousin! No guarantees when battling this ugliness. I think I got all of it. But there is still greeness that worries me, even if it's not that lighter shade typical to BD. Though it hasn't progressed...time will tell.
the OP coin, while it is of Claudius Gothicus, must have been minted by another emperor afterwards because it is a after death coin...
I purchased the coin for the very low price compared to its values, despite the coin having bronze disease, of around $120 (well under my max bid). I had been looking for this lil guy for some time and jumped when he came along. If you look around on v coins and on auctions it's hard to find one under$1,000.
That detail confused me, too. I think it might have been a mistranslation. He might have meant he's been a student of languages and coins for eight years, not that he was born eight years ago. But then there's that avatar photo...
