I’m at au 55 too. 58 on the best day. Really baggy so I’d say no way on a ms grade

A nice coin with little to no wear but it's so scratchy. Beyond bag marks and more like abrasively cleaned. Looks like brillo pad action on the obverse, oh the humanity! The sparkly background doesn't help. Still a nice gold coin.

Pictures really need to be better but Au details as it looks as if the obverse got an abrasive rub at some point.

My first impression was low MS. I can still see it getting MS60 with the contact marks despite the comments. I have several gold libs with similar contact marks in MS60 holders from NGC. First, I don’t see wear on the high points especially on the reverse. And, I think your coin has nice eye appeal. The only criterion that I could see holding it back from MS would be a significant lack of luster. I have a feeling in hand, she has obvious luster. The photo likely overemphasizes the contact marks because of a tangential light source. Also, I don’t see obvious evidence of old cleaning.

It does have better luster in hand. I am far from a pro when it comes to taking photos of coins.

Although I had a guess, I had to look up the word "tangential" to understand its meaning. I am going to see if I can use that a couple times today in a sentence but it a different context and perhaps denotation! I'm sure it will result in at least one blank stare back! Haha

Would this be a triple tangent?

Broker: "Well, I hate to go off on a tangent."

Me: "I may have a tangential thought as well."

    Broker: "What's tangential?"

Obverse, a lot of bag marks
Reverse, heavy scratch between the wing and "A" ?
But the Reverse is definitely nicer.

    I love gold coins.

Errrm... who doesn’t? Oh right, the members of the EAC cult :)

I think my namesake Mike was spot on with AU55... although the rev looks UNC, the obv doesn’t.

I tend not to bother trying to grade coins by pics, but I am in the AU camp on this one.....still, a nice coin!

What is that action on the reverse, between the left wing & the "A"?
