Sorry no measurements and weight just yet. To give an extremely vague idea of its general size, it's about the same size and shape of someone's fingerprint, as you see them inked out on a police fingerprint card. Eastern... central Asian, I'm guessing? Haven't a clue.
It's vaguely familiar. My guess would be Indian, but I dont see patinas like that from around there. I am sure someone will know.
I kinda thought "Indian", too, but admittedly that's my go-to diagnosis for almost all unknown Asian stuff. ('Cause it happens to be true so often.)
The first side up seems to show Arabic lettering on 2 lines at least. Maybe it's a coin of " Indian States" or others ?
I think it’s definitely a toughra, which narrows it down to possible Ottoman or Egyptian. I don’t think any other Islamic cultures used a toughra on their coins.
A toughra, huh? I wouldn't have thought of that. Toughras are mostly just "squigglies" to me, though they do all seem to have those three vertical strokes, like clawmarks.
I'm afraid I don't presently know. The coin might or might not be in my safe deposit box with my other stuff. I'll look. Just remembered about it when I found these pictures in my phone.
Does this help you see it? Having an indecipherable reverse, this is my best guess on the toughra assumption. We could try rotating the reverse picture to match. https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces89843.html
