Found this going through some of my girlfriend's old boxes of stuff. I knew about the Cheerios Sacajawea but forgot they did it with the LMC's also. With there being 10 million of these put into circulation, is there any real significance to these or basically just a memento? No pictures of the reverse for obvious reasons.

Funny, 2000 was still in the 1900s.

If I were you I would put it in my box of junk coins. You know, whatever coins you have for no reason

I’m trying to remember, I think there is something unusual about Cheerios cents.

it would have to be taken out of the packaging to check for your favorite WAM or CAM! :hilarious:

Is the Cheerios obverse the “camel lips” Lincoln?

They're going on Ebay for around a couple of dollars in the packaging that you have up to what I would presume a thousand or so dollars graded. The higher priced one was an MS67+ and the price crossed out was $2499 but the seller took best offer. I wouldn't put it in a box of junk coins.

Yeah it's not worth that. Unless you are talking about the Cheerios Sac dollar.
People can ask any price that doesn't mean it is worth that, or they will get it. Even if such high graded zinc modern cents sold for this price previously,
it still is not worth it.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and this is mine.
High graded zinc cents are so over valued it is laughable.

If a coin consistently sells for over a hundred dollars, I guess it doesn't especially matter whether any of us think it's "worth it" or not.

I would say so. Either that or he's pouting like a 14 year old girl.

I went on eBay after I posted and saw the crazy range of prices being asked for this. Should have looked there first, it pretty much answered my question.

I have a couple of those too laying around. Keep them in the packaging. I should get mine graded and sell it but it's a neat momento of a box of cereal.

I recall a long time ago on eBay they were selling the unopened Cheerios boxes. I don't see any of those on eBay anymore as I just checked LOL

There is nothing special about the Cheerios cent. In the original package they bring a few dollars on ebay. The $100 plus pieces listed are for the most part MS-67 and all slabbed. If you don't get a 67 forget it, and what do MS-67 non-Cheerios cents go for? Probably about the same. The premium isn't really for the "Cheerios" its for the "67".

I really wish cereal companies would start doing stuff like this again.

they should have used a "C" Mint Mark on those pennies.
