Ughhh, how do I re-slab a CAC'd coin?

I'm a PCGS, but not CAC member.

The reverse is cracked from 10-1 o-clock over the coin. No damage to the coin, just a cracked holder. I started taking the sticker off to prep the coin for reholder submission, but already messed up the sticker removal (see pics).

    Why?

You don't have to take the sticker off for reholder. It'll come back without a sticker after the reholder.

I believe he wants to hang onto the sticker.

You have to have it restickered afterwards. You can't peel it off and hope to put it back on.

Yes I was hoping to hold on to the sticker while I got it reholdered, then reapply the sticker.

I would give CAC a call and tell them that you have a PCGS coin with Cert #34613998. Inform them that it has a CAC sticker already, but that the slab is cracked and you are sending it to PCGS for a reholder. Tell them that the cert number is not changing but you would like to have the CAC sticker added back after the fact. Inform them that you are not a member of CAC and ask them what you can do. They may make an exception for you to send it in directly for resticker. Otherwise you will need to have a member send it into CAC for you. I am a member of CAC as well as many others here.

Thank you! Big help. I actually am on the wait list now since I've so many slabbed coins I want to submit. This is a huge help - I'll contact them tomorrow.

You’re welcome. I wouldn’t want anyone else thinking they can peel off CAC stickers and apply them to whatever they want.

I believe the CAC stickers are designed that way. After the first application it can never be used again. That is to prevent stickers to be taken off and used on other slabs.

    There is a $3 fee for re-stickering.

Yeah like robec said it's $3 to resticker at CAC. They have the cert on file and reholdering doesn't change the cert so no worries about it not stickering again. One thing though you have to pay to ship it both ways so ideally you have other coins to send to CAC at the same time or it will be a pricey little sticker.

Also you don't need the sticker on there as again the cert shows it passed at CAC.

On the bright side for $5 more you can get a nice trueview for a nice coin

Call CAC, explain the situation and provide cert #. I would also recommend retaining the pics you have of the coin, because you may need to provide them to further verify. Send the coin in to PcGS for reholder, then to CAC (whether personally if you’re a member, or through a valid member) with request instructions & explanation on the submission form. That should cover it.

Exactly. They definitely took into consideration people trying to switch them like that when they chose which sticker to use
