1970 D LINCOLN CENT-STRUCK THRU GREASE ?-FLOATING ROOF ERROR ETC

  1. 1970 D PENNY WITH "IN GOD WE TRUST" MISSING",DATE HALF MISSING AND HAS FLOATING ROOF ERROR. I IDENTIFY THIS AS A 1970 D BECAUSE FLOATING ROOFS ARE FOUND ON 1969 AND 1970 COINS. I HAVE A FEW. THE 197 IS VISIBLE AND THE 0 IS MISSING. D MINT MARK IS ONLY SLIGHTLY VISIBLE. COMMENTS???

    Could be a Struck through debris issue on the Obverse but I don't think it's a Floating Roof variety. With added circulation wear on the entire Cent it affected the roof. This is my opinion.

    Ha. I thought that "floating roof" error was a joke...it actually exists. Now I have to go back to my 69s and 70s...learned something new today. Thanks!

    Correct. And very common on the 1969D but others have it also. Also be on the lookout for reverse missing designers initials, also over polished dies. But not as common.

    Found a 69s 70s and 71d with the floating roof I think. Is this known on the 71Ds as well? Apologies to OP, don't mean to hijack your thread, just wanted to share if I did find them on my stash. Thanks!
