Hey. This is my first post here. I’ve come across a 1943 Steel Penny. Not uncommon. I noticed a few thing though. It looks completely uncirculated. Not a single scratch on it. The other thing I noticed was that it has these weird bubbles all over it. I’ve heard of coins having the bubbling, but how does that change the value of a coin, and how uncommon is it for the steel pennies? My last question was, is it possible it’s a counterfeit. It looks too perfect to be real, especially with the bubbling. I downloaded an app to take photos using my phone. It’s a magnifying app that way you can get a closer look. I’m sorry there is an ad at the bottom of each photo, the app has ads and I just screenshotted the screen because there is no save option on the app. It’s just a magnifier.
It is reprocessed and there is some issue either with the replating or something that was underneath before it was replated. Agree with the value being basically nil at this point.
Replated, yes, worthless, no, except to jaded CoinTalk members, otherwise a buck or two. BTW...welcome to CoinTalk
They aren't worth "a buck or two". Before the replating they are 10 , 15, 25 cents depending on condition. After the replating, now they are damaged, and the value is almost nothing. It would only be a dollar if you were to take advantage of someone without the knowledge that they are worth nothing.
