You're okay, man; no apologies warranted or necessary. Please understand that we see what feels like an endless flow of folks who come here thinking/hoping anything from road rash to 20 year old coins will be their vehicle to collecting millions and explains why some misinterpreted your intentions. As for tips, collect what YOU like and not what anyone else thinks you should. Also, do understand that this hobby centers around knowledge and means that, without question, the more you genuinely learn the better off you'll be. The latter part is particularly true if the coins that interest you most also happen to be costly; it's always better to hold off buying until one both knows what they're doing and have allowed their tastes to evolve.
