I'm not a Morgan guy but around the collar has me concerned, the folded over looking stuff. Can anyone say if this is a normal thing?

I took some additional pictures after you pointed that out. It does not appear to be damage.

Maybe $35 to $40 tops. There are either rim dings or this was mounted to something previously? It is slightly MAD which might get a couple more dollars to a collector of that sort of thing. Unless there's a VAM on this to up the ante, I think $40 is the best this would bring but you never know...

I very sure this is a counterfeit coin.

How can you tell if a coin is counterfeit or not?

Definitely fake. The denticles are way too inconsistant.

The coloring is also consistent with the fakes coming from Asia that are listed on eBay.

I don’t know much about coins. Can I get anything for it?

I had the same feel about this one. The toning effect around liberty’s portait almost looks spray painted on.

Have you tried to weigh it or put it against a magnet? Those are 2 good indicators of a fake. Though, the Chinese fakes are getting better.

Do you have some better pics of the reeding on the edge? They don't look like they go all the way from one side to the other. I am leaning towards it being a counterfeit. The 'S' mint mark is way too big too.

Hey, y'all-- I'm totally brand new at this, but check out her lips/mouth and chin compared to the image on my grandfather's Morgan dollar. The corners of her mouth (on the possible fake) look turned up like she's slightly smiling and her chin juts out more. But I wonder if the two coins are sitting exactly the same way. Actually, her eyes look different too. Am I just imagining this? I'm probably wrong since I'm so new to it-- it's probably just too difficult to judge things like expression because of the differing amounts of wear and the relative lack of focus..... Just ignore me. Ha ha.

But on the reverse, the S does look a bit larger, 1921-S Morgan Dollar obverse GPI.jpg 1921-S Morgan reverse GPI.jpg as TheFinn said.

I don't know if it is fake or real, but if the people here say it is fake, I believe them.
You can't sell a counterfeit coin as a real coin, that is illegal.
If you bought this on EBay then send an email and get a refund.
If this coin is fake, no it isn't worth anything.
