I'm intrigued by a detail in the picture for this coin. Adorning the crested helmet/headdress for Athena, there is a figure with a long serpentine body and a fishtail, while at the other end it has the upper torso of a human body (arms, head, and trunk) above what appears to be the foreleg of a horse. It's neither hippocampus nor centaur, but I can't recall where it fits. What kind of figure is that, and where does it fit in Athenian mythology?

I got a few odds and ends One was a Nero and Agrippina Minor denarius the other was a tetradrachm of Lysimachos. I really like that "boxers" nose lysimachos15.jpg 3845377l (1).jpg

I feel like I've got a stalker....hahahaha. Got to change my name and get myself a brand new identity :)

Actually I too thought it went quite cheaply. They normally go for about $1,200. Had a good day with the moderns on offer as well. Will post them in World Coins section soon

That nose gives him an aggressive look :) Though the one on your coin is much more prominent.

I haven’t yet identified it, but I purchased this As of Vitellius recently for a dollar for the sake that it is a Vitellius copper.
