You may be right, but I'll add one more thing: based on reports here, you'll go through a lot of quarters from circulation before you find even one silver at this point. If String is processing massive amounts of change, and filtering out silver, they may not be finding enough to be worth a refiner's or dealer's time. They may well have one employee who said "hey, why don't we just put these on eBay, and maybe get more than the dealer/refiner has been giving us?"

Next thing for me to check (when I'm home): just how much silver that seller has moved, and how much they still have listed. And what the going rate is. (The stuff I bought was below melt because of a 20%-off coupon code. Its sole advantage: it was listed in a non-coin category, where that code was valid!)

The dealer buy price for silver coins is for 1 coin or a bag. Sometimes they'll pay a bit more per coin for a bag. But, if you have only 1 1964 dated kennedy half, they will buy it.

I still doubt that the STRING seller on eBay is selling on behalf of the company. He might just be an employee who has permission to use the name for advertising purposes.

Picked up my weekly order. They had an extra box of halves so I gladly took it too. Not as great as last week, but still managed:
    3x90%ers (17D MM on Rev, 64px2)
    17x40%ers
    1980P weighing 10.27g

Finished my box that Trish will buy Wednesday.
Went back to my rolled copper. A mid 6 roll wasn't even completely a mid 5 roll. At least a 1/4 or the mid or slightly higher 5 rolls are going back to the wild. But on the plus side I am coming up with some pretty good rolls by combining the best or two or more.

Yes, I've sold silver to dealers. But I also realize that if I want to sell more than $1K worth, I'll get better money at Provident, and that other online dealers have even higher thresholds for their best buy prices.

If so, he's doing a spectacularly poor job of it. The String name shows up nowhere in the listings, nor in their storefront (which says "Webcoins has been servicing the coin and banking industry since the 1920’s"). It only shows up in the PayPal email address of the seller.

They currently have one lot of 100 worn/damaged/discolored silver quarters, with a single bid at the opening price of $300, and one roll of silver dimes, no bids yet at a start of $64.99. They also have rolls and boxes of 40% Kennedy halves, and lots of other "things you'd find in a reject slot".

Oh, and $500 bags of copper "pennies" -- "Unsearched, Bulk Bullion Lot!"

And if that's not enough, this:

Truckload of 20+ Tons of Circulated Copper Pennies - Bulk Bullion Lot

What's printed on the outside of the Loomis rolls? Everyone talking about NF String, I am interested...

Btw, worn walker but would take the '17 in a hot minute. Nice find

I think as a whole we may be connecting the dots incorrectly. NF String rolls that say Loomis uses in my area with NF String's business model in another area for example, or the lack of silver in boxes with holes versus boxes without holes. And when the population of Silver starts to result in Skunks we all draw the conclusion that whoever is rolling the coins is culling silver (which may or may not be the case). NF Strings supplies Loomis with wrappers, but I know for a fact that Loomis rolls their own coins from coins returned by banks or bulk coins from the Treasury. So NF Strings is not rolling Loomis coinage in Harrisburg and shipping all over the country. Loomis regional office have their own machines.

It is better to look at why silver ebbs and flows or Supply and Demand by who your competition is and where you live:
    1) Astute tellers that know to pull silver coinage as it is deposited
    2) Other Searchers (Bank Searchers or Roll Searchers), your deluded if you think you are the only one in your region looking for silver. Bank Searchers catching the silver before Loomis, Brinks etc. gets them is probably a bigger population than hunting through boxes.
    3) Employees at Loomis etc. less probably because security is probably tightly controlled, but
    4) Loomis etc. that are culling and using it as a revenue stream.

I think it is great that the members of this thread are investigating the topic and throwing out ideas because information is key to honing your searching parameters and increasing your chances of finding silver.

    Happy Hunting everyone.

Bummer. On some other forums, I got in the habit of typing up my response in an editor and then copy/pasting it in, just because that kept happening. On this one, though, I just checked "stay logged in", and it doesn't ever time out...?

I'll pull out a wrapper and snap a picture when I get home. Nothing special. I think it just says Loomis $10 Half Dollars around the edges.

I miss those warppers, in my area they changed to the Gold and White and silver has not been as good since. I know that is a stupid thought but that is what I am blaming it on. LOL

I pulled another mid 6 roll. 32 of them will make an upper 5.
The rest not so much. Have about 40 very decent wheat pennies towards a roll. Finding one or two in many of the rolls.
