    Hi everyone,

I feel pretty sure about this, but I have a 1966 FS-101 Kennedy half dollar, I believe. The pictures aren't the best(let me kno if you want better pics) but I think they'll do to get the doubling confirmed. Thoughts?

    Thanks ya'll

Well I'm not an expert in Kennedy half dollars but that sure looks like MD (machine doubling). IMO

You do realize we are saying that this is not a doubled die rite?

Im a newbie, but yes I know the difference. I did not catch that until your comment tho; good looking out. Hhmm..the listing for the coin error listed it as a DDO. I'll attach a scrreshot. They're closeups from the website, and mine has the same distinct doubling..or appears to. Screenshot_20180505-211326_Firefox.jpg

Your coin is strike doubled (machine doubled). Note especially the W in WE. Rather than having two separate sets of serifs and being a bit larger than normal, the W looks partially flattened, with the unflattened part being a bit smaller than normal.

There are 37 different DDOs listed on Variety Vista for 1966 Kennedy halves, so doubling is quite common on these. Upon close inspection of the coin, it is possible that you have both a doubled die and strike doubling, but I don't see anything to indicate that from your pictures.

It's not a DDO. It is MD (Machine Doubling).

Wow. I must say that I am impressed with the apparent ease at which the posters in this thread can identify md versus dd's. I would have said true doubling. Still much to learn for me. Kudos.
