My LCS occasionally has bargain slabs. Typically they have come from estates where the departed coin collector was playing the futures game. Seems he had everything slabbed, and hoped it would skyrocket in value. Mostly state quarters at 69 & 70, modern commems, and ASE's, and some silver (Franklins, Washingtons, Roosies). My LCS sells them as low as $5 or 2 for $8. I picked up a couple of 69 & 70 modern commems for $4 each, and a few others for $7.50. Difference is, I got to select the coin.
Which have gotten pretty ridiculous, just sold some Jeep parts on there last week. Been a while since I've sold something. $20 sale cost me over $2 in fees plus paypal fees and shipping.
I know the online retailer you are talking about and they are a great bunch. If you call them you may be able to stop by and look at a small amount of their inventory. I'm sure they would be glad to assist.
that's becz ppl get their 1955 DD coin graded and find out it's nothing or their 1982 D rare small date penny and find out it's common or their think their PMD find is awesome and find out it's just junk or are just crazy.
Ya I have a connection with them anyway, my grandmother has worked there for over 50 years and I worked there a little bit after high school. They do have a small show room but most everything else is kept well away from the public. They used to do tours but you couldn't get anywhere near the coins. If I recall it's 3 locked card access doors before you get to the "floor" where they pick and pack everything.
There is a seller on e-bay that sells slabbed proof coins for$ 1.59, $3.95 shipping.and if you but 5 you get a free one,and the shipping is flat rate. All these coins are random. So say you buy 8 and get a 9th one free all comes to $12.72. I made this purchase not for the slabs, but because ill get 9 proof coins. If I went to the bank and purchased $12.75 in mrw coins,id be happy with 9 proofs out of that lot, but you get the bonus slab for free. If I'm wrong for thinking like this please let me know.
Before you give me a hard time guys lol, even slabbed by the seller the slabs are worth what I paid. Plus this is the fun to me,and that's all that counts right. But I have no idea who slabbed these,I only have one other slabbed coin from pcgs.
estatebureau is the seller's name,I'm new to eBay so not to sure we're all the links are, sorry. Hope this answered your question.
