1911 China Dragon Dollar

    first .. welcome to the fourm! :)

    second, while i dont know much about the coin you posted about , i am sure one of the more knowledgeable will be by shortly!

    I did just think of something though ... It is very odd to the english "One Dollar" on a foreing coin... maybe its a medal or somethign similar?

    The obverse (bottom picture) is certainly in the style of a late Imperial coin (roughly 1890-1911), but after about a half-hour search,I have yet to find any from that period with a dragon surrounding a 1 Yuan denomination in Chinese, over an English legend of "One Dollar".

    Most of the silver crown-size coins from that period, from the Imperial and Provincial governments, are denominated in Candareens and Mace; and the dragons are centered on the coin.

    A picture small enough to see the whole thing on the screen at the same time would be far more useful in trying to find a match in the Standard Catalog of World Coins!

    Many coins of China used the 'Dollar' or 'Cash' written in English

    Drusus .. what referance book did you use to find that? im not familiar with the Y#31 number...
