Hi guys, I'm new here. Just recently acquired this coin and would like to share! Any information about this coin is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
first .. welcome to the fourm! second, while i dont know much about the coin you posted about , i am sure one of the more knowledgeable will be by shortly! I did just think of something though ... It is very odd to the english "One Dollar" on a foreing coin... maybe its a medal or somethign similar?
The obverse (bottom picture) is certainly in the style of a late Imperial coin (roughly 1890-1911), but after about a half-hour search,I have yet to find any from that period with a dragon surrounding a 1 Yuan denomination in Chinese, over an English legend of "One Dollar". Most of the silver crown-size coins from that period, from the Imperial and Provincial governments, are denominated in Candareens and Mace; and the dragons are centered on the coin. A picture small enough to see the whole thing on the screen at the same time would be far more useful in trying to find a match in the Standard Catalog of World Coins!
