I love this show, it's local and it's every few months. Sometimes there is some great new material like these below. I had no intention of going in and buying nothing but Morgans this weekend. I looked at a lot of other stuff, but either it did not speak to me or the dealer and I were just too far apart. It did turn out to be an older holder day though and only (1) NGC. So this first one is an 1879-S Morgan Dollar that turned out to be a VAM that our own @Cascade discovered. It's a VAM-1B2 and it's in an old NGC MS-65 holder. I loved the look of the heavy die polish lines on the obverse coupled with the toning. It might not be for everyone, but I really like it. These next two were yet another sibling set of old holders, this time the old ANA holders. I could not let them get broken up and fell in love with both of them. The second one turns out to be a VAM-12 Die 2 80/79 with a very deep PL reverse.
These next two are a couple of early rattlers. I can't resist these early rattlers. This 1880-S I am shocked was not labeled as a PL as it certainly has the mirrors to have gone PL. The next one will be revealed a little later as it's the subject of a GTG over here. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/gtg-1883-o-morgan-dollar.315667/
All are great looking! When I lived in Bellingham that show was too far to go to. Thanks for letting me know what I missed out on.
I was blessed with some fresh material at this one. There have been some in the past with stale material. It ebbs and flows, just got to time it right.
I tried mine this weekend, whew felt like I was at a grading class of what not to buy. Glad you found some good stuff my friend
I've seen it like that before. I hate it when you come across nice stuff, but the dealers price them like they are the only ones that exist.
Oh yes next to Denny's... when I was working in the PNW, I loved that show. Used to plan my travels around it. Glad to see it's still going on.
Yes, it's still going. I don't know for how much longer, but I hope it can still hold on. I like it, but it can be stale at times. Thankfully this was an exception.
Nice pickins'! I wish I at least had a decent dealer near me let alone local shows with goodies like these. Beautiful photography as always...
