Again, try to take a nice long look in the mirror. If you can spew and fling poo, you can also take a little coming back to dirty you.

People gain something form viruses though, it's not just for fun they steal info, and computer work is very different from metal work. The kind of skill set it takes and the time to develop the skills, you usually don't find dumb crooks doing this kind of work. Skilled trades. This is like a jewler doing this kinda stuff. The boulder I'm trying to move here is that it's a vice slam, to move the boulder is always difficult but the facts in the metal do not support the go to option in this case. They just don't add up. Aren't you at all curious as to why? That there might be more to the 1955 doubled die story then ever known?

I am a very open minded person. Have you thought that maybe I don't have the answer you are wanting to hear?

Tell me something, if this coin got flipped around in the tube instead of being rejected as normal and another was inserted and then they were slammed together, would that same reversing happen, yes or no?

    No.

I'll let you investigate the process here as you apparently only want to hear one answer and one answer only.

Otherwise, send it in to PGCS to get it graded with your information.

Easy, @Ezy. At least give us clearer pictures of it and that field area. We're concluding the way we are because we can't imagine any way this was made at the Mint. That leaves somebody did it. Why? Look at what this coin is doing to you, that's why. And people do this, just for that, to screw with people's heads, not to mention their wallets.

If it got flipped around in the tube and another inserted and they were slammed, wouldn't that same reversing happen? Have you considered that it happened inside the tube? Or, are you discrediting the idea instantly, without thinking that maybe it did? If you didn't consider it, then you're discrediting not just me, but the metal itself that I'm just trying to point out and share with people. And also Paul. Who is a pro basically, he was top dog at the show I went to.

Is it impossible for it to happen?

WOW! Three pages on this? If Fred said it's damaged then that is the end of this story. Does not matter how the letters got there or who did it because no one will ever know. A fool and his tools should be parted as quickly as possible and maybe we would not have 3 pages discussions on what it is and what it's not. "Nuff said"

The above quoted post is rather telling and I would respectfully urge anyone involved in this thread and confused by the ongoing nonsense to read it carefully.

Perhaps much of the problem here is miscommunication. It's difficult to follow what you're saying when all is jumbled into what feels like an endless paragraph, and is only exacerbated by the fact you're making all sorts of assumptions, seemingly due to the apparent fact you understand little about the minting process.

No one is saying your coin is a "fake", as in a counterfeit 1955 cent. The only thing is question is how it came to be in this condition. Contrary to what you seem to suggest above, no one was trying to recreate a 1955 doubled die, which is something altogether different from the type of error you're trying to claim here (at least part of the time anyway).

Perhaps we've started off on the wrong foot and it would be wise to start over from scratch without the nonsense.

Bottom line. If you think this coin really is an error coin, you should send it to a grading service. Would you trust their word?

Can anyone explain to me what this "tube" is? I used to make test "tubes". I used to slide down the hill in snow on an inner "tube". I watch music on You "Tube". But I've never heard this term used in making coins. BTW, Fred is not a rude person. He's an expert in his field of "REAL" errors and is quite the decent gentleman. I think your next step is to send it to PCGS, pay the $30.00 plus, have it graded and returned to you and enjoy it for all time. When you get it back please return here and let us all know how this worked out.

Why send it to PCGS when the ANACS dude was eager to drop a cool ("lowball") 20 grand in his pocket? Silly.... ;)

Oh, and as for initial question....

I know Paul DeFelice (sp?) at ANACS
and I can assure all of us who are reading
this that he did NOT offer $20K for it, and
.....that he did NOT value it for $20K.

I know this as a fact for a few reasons.

You loose your credibility when you make
statements like that in your OP.

What if Fred is wrong? Is that impossible or something? The only fool is the one who doesn't understand the only tool we have and how to keep it oiled up and in tip top shape my brother. In other words, I will never know it all and that's all I will ever know. I never claimed Fred is wrong either, so chill dude. I'm presenting an idea with the facts that I know of for an open discussion on the matter. One fact, this is the only 1955 penny like this in the world and another fact, nobody knows if it's from the tube or not. Only thing being proven here is that people would rather it be nothing then something....and that's kinda sad. Perspective can be a great thing, ya know? I'm not trying to prove something against anyone, I'm asking for help in the truth of this thing because nothing has made sense yet on it. Not even Fred, who barely looked at it. He didn't take the time to think about this one, that maybe he might of been holding something he's never seen before. That happens. Especially with people who have been doing something for a long time. Sometimes it takes a fresh mind to break down a wall, like that this is a vice press because there is no way it could have gotten stuck in the tube that we can imagine yet - yet. That is the important part. It's possible from what I've been told, is it provable though? People are saying coins are faked and this is a fake, but you gotta remember this is a 55 that was stashed in a case since the 60's or so when my step dad was a kid. Was the world full of scammers back in the 50's? I have no idea but it seems like everyone says it was a better time back then. You could leave your doors unlocked and stuff. I find it hard to believe the whole scam story. It doesn't look like a 55 doubled die at all so nobody was trying to replicate anything obviously. It isn't an attempt to do that. Please, show me another example of any coin with extra lettering like this ST, I haven't seen anything like it before. If you guys have, then I'm an idiot and that's perfectly fine, because this coin is still the luckiest coin in the world! lol I just want the truth, it's interesting to me. This coin is cool and it's worth $20,000 and that's alright by me man. I don't need to take the money, its worth $20,000 as is. That's a shiny penny boys, can't deny that. You can try to say I lie but I don't so, you can scoff at me or be a part of this history too. Your choice
