The grass is always greener on the other side. I'm only a little jealous though. We all have our personal "best find". I've only found 1 Franklin and 1 walking liberty half CRH, while others here I'm sure are sitting on rolls of them. However I did get 2 morgan dollars from a teller, which I have some of you old timers beat on ;).

CRH is all in good fun. Personally when I see someone else get a really good find it gives me drive to go back and hunt (I've been skunking for a while now). I am happy to see what others are finding and still trying to learn how to detect errors.

This is a good thread. I think I've been posting in it for 4 years now.

I'm still waiting on my first silver dollar. Every time my tellers say they have silver dollars for me I get excited. Only to be utterly crushed haha. One of these days though....

I am seriously considering increasing my weekly volume of halves and not hunting for errors . The errors are fun but it takes more time to search under a scope. These are most of the errors i have found in the last yr. Despite me best efforts I still cannot resist checking every coin for rotation and FG. 20180413_224701.jpg

That rotated one is really cool.

I am happy to have found it after flipping god knows how many halves lol. Unfortunately it is really beat.

I've yet to find a rotated coin. But I'm really bad at flipping everything. I certainly don't flip my halves and only flip a few certain dates when it comes to cents.

I like 'em! I don't really check for die rotation, but like you I can't not look for "no FG", and 74-D DDO. Your 74-D DDO is very nice!

My wife has quite the keen eye for spotting "No FG"s. She's pulled a few 72-Ds and 82-Ps, but I've also found some nice ones. I recently pulled an 88-P and a 90-P that I thought was rare enough to write to NGC about. I actually got a response saying it's genuine and mine is the 2nd recognized one from their point of view. I still haven't seen a 74-D DDO, but we check every coin for it. I cannot tell you how many incredibly weak and partial FGs we have pulled, to the point that I've thrown a bunch of them back recently because they're simply not rare enough. I even pulled an 85-P "FC" last week, lol.

Wow! 16 a week!? I seriously doubt if any of my local banks would allow me to do that many. I used to do 4 a week (had a standing order for 4 every week with a particular bank) and they shut me down after about 3 months. I never dumped there either. I did notice that I was running into other folks dumps as they marked theirs and this happened repeatedly. I eventually gave up as the silver count got way low. I was used to pulling 1,2,or 3 rolls per box. Less than that one I considered a skunk. Then when my regular bank just decided to shut me down one day (claiming it was too expensive for them to order every week, and I suppose it did cost them something) I quit. I just may try my luck again as it's been some time now. Congrats to you and enjoy the fruits!

We used to keep the weak fg's also but throw them all back now. We call them "ghosts" because at first glance it looks like there isn't anything there but upon closer inspection you can see a shadow or a ghost image of it.

I'm putting 10 copper back into the wild in the current box.
I'm getting from 5 - 7 leftover zinc which tells how few copper are coming out. Really ugly copper I just leave in the roll.

Picked up $270 in dimes today on a whim. Skunked. The only thing it did was remind me why I hate doing dimes :p

They are much trickier but half through $300 dimes today and found 1963. It’s all numbers!

I used to do $1k dimes a week. Managed to fill 3 rolls and fill up a Roosie book along with 20 or so mercs and a single Barber. Just wasn't worth it in the long run for me. Halves produce better. It was nice to switch it up a bit though today. Looking forward to my weekly pick up of halves and cents on Monday.

That’s awesome! Would love to find a Barber in anything one day. Have gotten 3 V nickels so far in last couple months. It is nice to change it up.

20 January 2015 was when I found it. Wow that was a long time ago haha. I have also found 1 Barber half, a 1902 (found 28 April 2016). I've only managed 2 V nickels in almost $50k of nickels searched.

That barber half is impressive. I sorta understand when Merc and before dimes get spent/handled because they're so small, but a barber half would definitely be hard to miss!

I’ve found 2 Barber halves. Both in MWRs. It’s been 2 years since I found a Barber half, so maybe I’m due :joyful:

That's crazy. My wife has pulled 3 V nickels over the past 2 weeks...just goes to show it's all luck. We've probably searched only 250 rolls of nickels in that time.
