It's a great coin, but I would like to see it in hand. The surfaces seem kind of dead to me, and the piece looks like a 63/64 coin from the pics. Albanese is the person behind the whole CAC stickering concept, which stickers coins that are solid or nice for the grade. There is a lot of debate among dealers right now over the merits of the CAC.
Well, guess I've got one comment. Submitted two legitimate questions and have received no answers yet. Additionally, the seller (Ebay Feedback) appears to have "wife problems" LOL...
slightly off topic but offered by the same seller...a true ''absolutely stunning'' rarity. http://cgi.ebay.com/1796-25c-Draped...ryZ11963QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
I seen that. She apparently gets him into quite a lot of trouble. http://toolhaus.org/cgi-bin/negs?User=gemcoin1
Zane, have you seen it in person? I suppose if it is still available, I'll ask to see it at FUN. I can't imaging Dave not being there.
Albanese Rare Coins is no relation to John Albanese, the founder of CAC. Unfortunately, a large number of people mistakenly think they are related. On another note, I'd like those claiming that the coin in question has been NCS'd and/or artificially toned to offer proof of those assertions.
Howdy Mark - Welcome to the Forum !! Can't say as I'm surprised you stopped by, hopefully you'll visit more often. Tell us about the coin, your opinion of it.
I stand corrected. I actually was in the thread to correct my mistake after further research and saw you'd pointed it out. Anyway John and Dave Albanses are not related.
Greetings, and Welcome to the forum. I e-mailed the seller with two pertinent questions and have received no response at all. One of the questions was if they could simply provide more photos. Take Care Ben
MarK; Welcome to the forum, and don't just make one posting and disappear. The posters have opinions and would be interested in your feedback. So, lets hear it.
Thanks for the welcomes folks. I haven't seen the coin in person and don't know how inaccurate the images are, so I can't fairly comment on its quality or other attributes. I do know however, that most images fall short in one or more areas in depicting how a coin really looks. I have seen far more coins that have been through NCS than I wanted to, and the coin which is the subject of this thread does not look like a coin which has been through NCS. I'm going to check out this site and see if I can find my way around a bit. In the mean time, I am usually happy to answer questions about rare coins if/when I think I can be of help.
