Hi everyone, I'm new to this whole coin collecting thing and have recently started to really get into it after I purchased a usb microscope. When going through some of my nickels hoping to find full steps I found some weird things going on with this 1960 D nickel.

If any of you have any idea what all is going on with this coin please let me know I think there is a "bar" error with the date but it also looks like a bunch of other funky stuff is going on. I've attached a few pics and would greatly appreciate any feedback. I turned the microscope light on the highest setting not sure if that is the best thing to do for pics or not. Thanks!

Yeah so I got a little excited thinking this was a decent find and kind of jumped the gun posting this thread. I since did my own research and learned a lot more about it so no replies are necessary.

MODs please delete this thread. Thanks!

Yeah so I went to a website called cuds on coins and saw similar cud "bar" error coins and believe this is some sort of variant of that error. I found out this is a very common error with 1960 nickels.

I also learned that this coin has signs of major die deterioration, which again, is a very common occurrence. The line under "we trust" is pmd. I am guessing that the weird line running from the corner of his eye down to his mouth is another common die error of some sort. I guess the squiggly lines to the right of his eye through part of his hair and similar mark on the back neck area are pmd as well.

Not sure if those assessments are 100% correct or not but it seems like a very common coin. Mine does appear to be in much better condition than a lot of the other examples I have seen so I guess that's a good thing.
