Just came across this while doing CRH and looks almost like a blank plan chat with just a ghost of Jefferson and 20 for the date. Is it possible or could this be just post mint 4256C13D-CB1D-4D22-BB73-DE773A52E060.jpeg 01374140-585E-4E0A-BC91-31E6B5BDD193.jpeg damage?

There is absolutely no way that your coin came from the mint in that condition.

U sure that isnt a mint cancelled coin? I know they damage the coin to prevent error collecting. According to the red book

I am sure.. They cancel coins with a process where the coins look waffled. Not like the Nickel in question. I have a few waffled coins in my collection.

I read somewhere that coins like these can be the result from pressure testing and adjusting the dies when they are replaced on the machines.

Taking a closer look at my phantom Washington nickel it does appear that it may have been sanded. However the "corners" around the edge are very sharp. Even more so then a new nick IMG_20220523_123458~2.jpg IMG_20220523_123458~2.jpg IMG_20220523_123458~2.jpg IMG_20220523_123510.jpg el (2022). It also seems to be a little bit smaller around and thicker. That's why I went with the die pressure test strike explanation! Has anyone else heard of such a thing to describe coins of this nature?

I would suggest for you to start your own thread. It looks ground down to me(damaged)based on the overall appearance. https://www.ngccoin.com/news/article/1115/
