Only problem there is the average person thinks a $2 note is rare so they'll hoard them.

Hmmmm.... kinda like dollar coins. Then we'll have quarters, dimes, nickels and cents to spend.

Worst case scenario but food for thought. ;)

Good point there clembo. I'm sure they'd be hoarded faster than they're released.

Hi! I'm quoting myself because I'm still curious if any of you know why this Washington Dollar coin is sooo Copper color. Its not gold like the normal coin. What can cause this? Thanks!

If I'm in the wrong Forum.......Sorry!

What's the largest number of singles you carry around on a regular basis?

When I go to england they use a pound coin which is the equivalent (though worth much more :) ) to our dollar...it doesnt seem to be a problem there and I could be wrong but the pound is heavier than the US dollar coin. People will use what they are given...if you remove the paper dollar people will use the dollar coin if thats all they have. I didnt see people with sagging pants and moaning about carrying around coins there in england.

I'm not familiar with "wheresgeorge", but I'm willing to bet that carrying 50 singles in your pocket is unusual.

well, i try to get the most bills out in circulation so i can get more "hits". why would it be unsual for me to carry around so many singles?

I don't but I still carry anywhere from 10-30 singles wth me. Cashiers love them as they ALWAYS seem to need them.

Here I go again but 30 singles in the wallet is a lot easier than 30 so called dollars. Try this at home kids! Notes (bills) fold into all kinds of shapes. Coins don't unless put under extreme pressure.

Then dont be crazy, use the 5,10 and 20 dollar bills. That is what they are meant for...

of course he was saying it is unusual for a person to carry around 50 singles...and he would be right. It also seemed obvious he had no idea why you would carry around 50 singles save for something you call 'wheres george' game?

I would be willing to bet that the majority of people do not collect as many bills as they can for 'hits' (which I assume is some collection goal) so they will not be walking around with 50 singles on a regular basis...or ever. Thus it would be considered unusual...or a practice that is not a usual practice for most. I would say on average most people do not have many singles each day so a few coins instead of a few bills is not a problem.

i agree. the bucks can get heavy in a flash in a pocket of pants. if the dollar bill disappeared the coin would circulate, that was the solution for canada. our country has tried this in the past. the dollar coins were made in the past and didn't circulate. when you have a choice( currently) of using a light weight foldable dollar or heavy coins i think the majority of people will use the bill everytme!
