Wow...this is interesting, never heard of this before, not saying I don't believe you or your source at this moment. Let me find more information before I come to a conclusion

Here is what I can conclude with my novice knowledge of transitional errors
1) You coin could just happen to look very similar to the PCGS graded Transitional
2) After hearing what some of the better guys have to say, if they reccomend it you may have the coin authenticated by a TPG. I am perplexed on the little info I could find.

I live in Florida in palm Beach and I am thinking about driving to ngc which is in Sarasota which is about 4 hours away but I want to get more information before I take the day off and drive over

 

Is it the color that makes you think it is struck on a silver composition planchet? If so it is only toned, it is very common to see nickels toned that color.

 

Looks like a normal post-war Nickel to me.

 

The color looks off to be a war nickel. The only ways to be sure would be a specific gravity test or one of those cool machines that tell you what type of metal it is.

You should definitely take the day off and drive over.

 

Only 8 hours of driving and who knows how much money spent for a good lesson

 

It's two trips. One to drop it off and another to pick it up.
A total of 16 hours on the road.

Unless he pays for Walk Through. It cost $125.00 plus $8.00 submission fee and takes 24 hours. One round trip and a hotel room for one night.

After all of that time and expense, I want to be there when NGC tells him it's just a nickel.

 

Can you actually walk into NGC? I didn't think they do that any more.

I just started reading this, out of interest, and I am also a new member as is Brian, it's very interesting to me to follow these forums. I will admit I have not kept track of names, but I have noticed that the so called well known members are the ones who
seem to think everyone who asks them a question is a edited.
To me it seams like the big boys would hate it if anyone but them stumbled on to a nice find. So in my opinion they do thier best to make sure that it becomes as difficult as they can make it so that does not happen. Well I'm sure I will not be a favorite on this site now, but after watching the crap given to the other poor new members, there is no way I would post a coin on here anyway, I am not a masochist.
