1982d small date - ???? Trying to learn.

    Based on those pics it appears to be a small date as stated, it's not copper is it. LOL

    Yes, in this case a "common variety". Now if it's bronze... Then we have another story.

    Yes, it's copper. I weighed all of the 1982's before checking the date. I've only found 3 that appeared to be small date out of a bag full.

    3.1 grams is copper (bronze) same thing. It is "bronze" because it is only 95% copper. But it is interchangeably referred to as copper.
    2.5 grams is zinc with copper coating

    I learned something new - didn't know they were the same thing. Well, heckfire! I weighed it again. It's zinc. At least I've figured out the small date part.
