I found this coin going through my fathers things, it is a 1950 D Penny silver in color. Weight 3.2 grams I have been searching all over and cannot find too much on why a coin would be silver from 1950. Please have a look, the only odd thing i can see is on the back there seem to black marks that do not rub off, (only tired to use finger) and there seem to be a blemish on the back as well. The coin feels very smooth Any other questions please let me know, and Thank You
Welcome to Coin Talk Anthony. Your coin appears to have been plated. This was done a science experiments in school and these cents and any number of other dates were plated by companies like Littleton, Mystic, etc., and were sold as novelty items and sometimes given away if you bought coins from them through the mail.
